Size: Approx 5 inches long
Materials:
#8 steel hook
Cotton #20 cotton string (or equivalent)
Instructions:
Chain 10. In 4th ch from hook: 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1. Do not turn. Skip next 5 ch, and in last ch, work: 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 3, turn.
In first ch sp: 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 3, turn.
*In ch space between the dc: 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1. Across the row in the ch space between the dc: 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 3, turn.*
Repeat between * until there are 23 bars; finish off.
Start arms on left side, 3rd 3-ch space from top. Use same pattern working from 3-ch space to next 3-ch space down. Arms are 4 bars long.
Arm on right side begins opposite, in a dc space (not a 3-ch space). For this arm, work from dc-space to next dc-space down, otherwise the arms won’t be exactly opposite.
Work all loose ends into stitches and cut off.
Measure a length of string from mid-chest to end of arm (approx. 30″ long).Loop over top of cross and ch 25 of the double thickness string, finish off. There should be about 4″ left over.
Make tassel: wrap around three fingers 40 times, cut off and tie in the middle using the 4″ ends of ch-25 length. Wrap string 10 times around the top of the tassel; trim tassel.
Weave 1/4″ width ribbon across arms horizontally first, then vertically between the bars, always beginning and ending over the first and last bar. Trim end of ribbon at an angle. Uses approximately 1/3 yard per cross.
